Our Corporate Story
Scib was incorporated in July 1978 and was initially known as Standard Chartered Insurance Brokers Nigeria Limited. The company was established as a joint venture between FIM Consultants Limited our parent company and Standard Chartered Insurance Brokers Limited, UK.
Standard Chartered Insurance Brokers UK itself, was a joint venture between Standard Chartered Bank and Sedgwick Insurance Brokers UK. The name Scib was adopted after Standard Chartered Bank Ltd divested from all non-banking operations worldwide which included its joint ventures with Sedgwick and by extension FIM consultants Ltd.
Sedgwick, a leading broker in the UK at the time, retained its equity interest as well as being Scib’s technical partner until it was acquired over by Marsh & MacLennan in 1998. Thereafter, Sedgwick diverted his equity interest from Scib, and technical agreement ceased. However, Scib continued to collaborate with various international brokers. In 2004 Scib became the correspondent for Willis, (now Willis Towers Watson) then the third largest broker in the world.
In 2009, Scib became the network correspondent for Aon, the largest broker in the world.
Uniquely, between 2009 and 2014, Scib represented Aon and Willis, two of the top leading brokers in the world.
Currently, Scib is the network correspondent for Aon, one of the leading insurance brokers in the world.
